So many early morning homecomings lately! Homecomings rarely take place at the Bronco Youth Center, but here’s one that did! (I was thankful because it was WARM inside!) Read about my freezing cold homecoming experience here. I love walking into homecomings and slowly taking in the moments. The night was quiet except for the beating music from the DJ inside, and the anxious crowd waiting the arrival of their soldiers.
For most kiddos, getting up so early and out of schedule can be hard to understand. Mr. Jaxton was cuddled in mommy’s arms, not quite sure what was about to happen. The closer and closer we inched to 5am, the more packed the stands got, and the louder and more anxious the crowd grew. I think Jaxton knew SOMETHING was going to happen but he wasn’t sure what. One thing I love about shooting homecomings at Fort Hood Gym or Bronco Youth Center is going outside to sneak a shot of the buses arrival. The soldiers marched in from the side of the bleachers and began their formation. Mom eagerly studied the faces, searching for any sign of theirs. We quickly spotted him in the front row. Anxiety turned to happiness and relief. Before we knew it, they were released to their families. I wish that I could express in words to you Jaxton’s reaction when he realized daddy was holding him. Once he did, he threw his arms around him and wouldn’t let go. Welcome home!
