Another sweet homecoming story from last Sunday. I always underestimate the wind in Texas! You’d think 55 degrees wouldn’t be too bad…well add in Texas wind chill and it feels much cooler! I got out to Cooper field and found Erika pretty quickly! Luckily we were all dressed warmly. The wait for the buses had already began. We had about an hour left to go before they would arrive!
Before we knew it they started to move the crowd back. The buses were on the way to us!
I swear the temperature was dropping every minute! But as those buses pulled up, the cold air was forgotten.
Before we knew it it was time to charge the field…and charge we did…
These moments are the hardest, and the lengthiest of all. There is so much chaos around you and all you are focused on is finding that familiar face, and locking eyes with the one you love.
Watching people around you reunite…but still not finding your soldier. Five minutes can seem like hours.
Finally after a few excruciatingly slow minutes, we spotted Casey, and Erika was off running into his arms.
All the cold forgotten. The wind chill barely registered anymore because finally, their world was whole once again.
Welcome home Casey!
