So for this little story, I wanted to do something a little different. The WHOLE story. Not just the “arrive at the field” part, although that is the BEST part.
A lot goes into prepping for a homecoming.
The outfit.
The shoes.
Hair & Makeup.
Making sure the house is clean and ready for your soldier.
Finally, the day is here.
Then freak out mode sets in. Heart beats so fast, time goes so slow.
Eating anything normal is out of the question.
Finally, it’s time to leave for the airport. Time is taking forever to pass.
Everything is jittery.
Walking up to the airport, you know the time is so close.
Even though his flight isn’t landing for an hour, you arrive early JUST to make sure you’ll be there.
It’s almost over.
You anxiously check the arrivals board to make sure it says “On Time”.
Feet tapping.
Pulse checking.
Hair fixing.
WHERE is that plane!?
Finally.
Finally out of nowhere the plane lands on the tarmac, and starts to taxi in.
Now the deep breathing starts. This is it!
These last few seconds are the worst.
The plane seems to be moving at a snails pace.
He’s RIGHT there.
It takes everything you have to not run through security and into his arms.
Finally, the wait is over.
Finally, he’s going to walk through that gate.
Finally, his arms are going to be around you again.
People start to emerge from the plane, and you study each person for any sign of yours.
Not him.
Not him.
Ugh, where is HE!?
And finally, you see him.
Finally, your person is here.
You crash into his arms and the busyness of the airport around you fades.
All you can concentrate on is reality.
Finally.
Still in disbelief, it’s hard to let go, even for a moment.
Because J did not come home to Cooper Field with the rest of his group, we wanted to head over to do a few special shots on the field.
Welcome home <3 Thanks for letting me tell this part of your story.
