I have been so excited to share this sweet homecoming story with you. It’s been so amazing be able to shoot SO many homecomings this month- I’m definitely getting quite comfortable shooting in the airport! Pretty sure they know me there.
I love shooting homecomings, as you know.
I love when there is a child welcoming mommy or daddy home.
What makes it even better? When the child or children understand what is going on.
We met at the airport to wait the last half hour or so together.
The girls were so thrilled! They picked out their special dresses for daddy, and wanted to show off their lockets with pictures from “mommy and daddy’s wedding” in them.
We anxiously awaited to spot the plane in the sky.
“I just want my daddy to be here!”
It’s very hard to explain to a child why daddy can’t be here RIGHT NOW!
We twirled and danced and watched and waited.
And waited some more.
And finally, out of that blue sky, we spotted the plane!
“There’s my daddy!”
“Daddy can you see me?”
The last few moments are the worst. It seems like 150 people deplane and none of them are the person you’re looking for.
“Are you sure he’s coming, mommy?”
I did not even have to turn around to know when she spotted her daddy. She was already on her feet and running.
I love watching how a child interacts with a parent they haven’t seen in what, I’m sure, feels way longer than any of us could ever imagine.
There is so much wonder and disbelief.
“Mommy, is that really my daddy?”
Welcome home <3
