Oh my goodness guys, as much as I’m tremendously enjoying being in Florida, I’ve really missed Texas and shooting homecomings. They are one of my favorite things to photograph- I love the raw emotion. I have many under my belt now but every time I shoot another one I love it even more!
This family is so super special to me! I’ve worked with them since their first, Bryelle, was a newborn. I’ve done family sessions, newborn sessions, maternity, predeployment, a homecoming, and now a second homecoming. I was SO excited when Melissa messaged me to tell me that her husband would be coming home during the window I would be in Texas.
In true military fashion, after their original homecoming was pushed back about 12 hours, we finally received news that the ceremony had been scheduled- very, VERY early in the morning!
I arrived at Melissa’s house to ride with her to the ceremony- and she showed me Bryan’s homecoming present— the coolest jeep I’ve ever seen! It was a fun ride to the field, with sweet Bryelle yelling, “faster, faster” from the back seat! Melissa and I were just hoping that she wouldn’t say anything to her daddy about riding in his new car. She did well- said nothing about the new vehicle!
After her husband received his bags, we all walked to the car, where Melissa handed him a key. It was different than the key he was used to so he immediately knew something was up. When Bryan figured it out, the look on his face- you’ll just have to see.
Sweet Nichelson Family, thank you so much for letting me tell another part of your story!
