You might remember Nick & Marisol from their gorgeous couples shoot back in March. I was thrilled to be able to be at their homecoming a few weeks ago! Although airport homecomings are very different from the ones in West Fort Hood Gym or on Cooper Field, they are still very special and meaningful to those who have soldiers coming home 🙂
Airport homecomings are different. You know exactly when the plane is going to land, there’s no guessing when the buses are going to drive down Battalion. But you still get there early because you never know. The plane could land early.
Its peaceful. Empty. There’s no screams of fellow spouses or family members. Your anticipation is your own- man, but it’s sure there.
Finally, the plane lands. You are literally watching your soldier arrive home.
Then the waiting starts. Seconds tick by as you wait for signs of passengers getting off the plane.
Come on, come on.
Finally people start to deplane. You’re eyes are fixed on that Do No Enter sign, waiting for the first peek of a military uniform. No, that’s not him.
Finally you lock eyes with him. And you tear across the room to jump into his arms.
Welcome home Nick! 🙂
^ This, y’all, is my wonderful husband photo bombing. Thanks, babe.
