A Romantic, Rainy Day Wedding at Epping Forest Yacht Club Wedding | Kelly + Taylor

Sometimes, you have the perfect wedding day weather. Other days, its perfect the day before and a Tropical Storm is heading straight for your wedding venue the next day.

Tropical Storm Alberto formed in the gulf a few days before Kelly + Taylor’s wedding. They handled the day with so much grace and patience- it poured for most of the morning but finally we were able to move outside for our formals!

Kelly dreamed of having her ceremony at Epping Forest Yacht Club, outside and in front of those stairs you see below. I mean, wouldn’t you? We watched the weather and anxiously waited to see what the storm was going to do. Read more ⤋

I actually shot her dress the day before the wedding. We were very concerned that everything was going to be soaking wet the next day- and with Epping Forest Yacht Club being such a beautiful venue, I wanted to make sure I got a shot of the dress outside. Worth it!
Sure enough, we woke up and checked the radar, and there was a huge block of green over the northern part of the state. (And it was pouring).
Kelly arriving at Epping Forest Yacht Club in the pouring rain!
The rain seemed to tease us all day. It would pour, and then stop for awhile, and then suddenly start again. Luckily, Epping Forest Yacht club has the ability to set up for an outside ceremony and inside ceremony at the same time, so we were ready either way.
As the rain continued, we realized that even if they were going to get married outside, the chairs would be wet and the guests would most likely get wet as well.

I had an idea- and their officiant was on board! The rain seemed to have stopped enough to where we could at least do a few pictures outside…if they could have the actual ceremony inside, we could invite any guests that would like to brave the rain outside with us to watch them have a special blessing in front of the stairs.
You guys. Almost every single guest came outside with us after the ceremony. Kelly got to walk down the stairs with her dad, as her guests looked on, and were able to say a prayer and kiss again! Then, the rain held off for awhile and we even were able to finish the rest of the photos outside.
Lindsey was engaged shortly after this and is getting married in May!

I cannot stress enough the importance of just taking whatever your day gives you and rolling with the punches. Kelly and Taylor won’t remember the stress about the rain, they’ll remember the joy, laughter, friendship and family from their day- plus, have a really great story for their grandchildren.

Thanks for letting me be a part of your story you two, and welcome to the family Taylor! (Kelly is my cousin in-law!)
